PSG want Newcastle ace to kick start post-Kylian Mbappé era

The official departure of star forward Kylian Mbappé upon contract expiry is set to trigger a major overhaul at Paris Saint-Germain during the upcoming summer transfer window. Now, according to a report by Le 10 SportPSG are keen to acquire Newcastle United’s midfield ace Bruno Guimarães in an attempt to bolster their midfield.

Guimarães will not be a cheap signing for Les Parisiens, though, as he is rated at a mouth-watering €100 million. In order to facilitate the move and not let financial constraints hold them back (they never have btw), PSG are considering cashing in on Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

It doesn’t really come as a shock to hear that PSG are allegedly okay with parting ways with Ugarte. The Ligue 1 champions bought the midfielder from Sporting CP in a €60 million deal last summer. He was counted on by Luis Enrique at first, but his influence waned during the second half of the season as the former Barcelona coach found the perfect midfield combo in the form of Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, and Warren Zaïre-Emery.

Guimarães’ signing will certainly add more punch to PSG’s midfield. The 26-year-old is central to everything good that happens on the pitch for the Magpies. He was a vital cog for Eddie Howe as Newcastle returned to the Champions League after over two decades, transforming into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

Although Newcastle will definitely do their all to keep hold of their star man, especially after failing to finish in the top four, Financial Fair Play could yet play spoilsport for Howe & Co., who might have no option but to let Guimarães walk through the exit door in exchange for a hefty fee.
