Tottenham will face Aston Villa on Sunday in the Premier League in a battle that will be pivotal for a top four spot when the end of the campaign comes around, given both of these top sides competed for a Champions League place last season (and a Conference League spot the prior year).
Aston Villa are flying high and are the favorites on Sunday, but Tottenham have star power of their own and have shown that they can beat anyone in the league, recently coming off an upset of Manchester City in the League Cup.
It gets better for Tottenham, too, as superstar forward Son Heung-min, the team’s best player, now looks ready to get back into the Spurs’ starting lineup this weekend.
Ange Postecoglou told reporters on Friday ahead of the all-important Premier League clash that his prolific goal-scoring left winger returned to training with the rest of his teammates.
The former Celtic coach stated that if Son is able to practice again on Saturday, he will be ready to go on Sunday against Aston Villa. That means, the South Korean superstar stands a strong chance of playing.
Son has missed the last three games with soreness, going down in a 4-1 blowout win over West Ham that featured his third goal of the season. Currently, the 32-year-old remains one of the Premier League’s best with three goals and two assists in six starts for Spurs.
With 2.5 key passes per game and 1.7 dribbles completed per match, Son’s underlying numbers are also very strong, and he has benefited from a shift back to the left wing after the summer signing of well-rounded striker Dominic Solanke.
