Latest Randal Kolo Muani transfer news is a tough blow for Tottenham

Tottenham have been interested in signing Randal Kolo Muani from PSG this winter, as the out-of-form French striker is one of the hottest No. 9’s available this January.

Kolo Muani was one of the best strikers in Europe during the 2022/23 season with Eintracht Frankfurt, leading to a whopping 95 million euro transfer to PSG the following summer.

He has been unable to come close to meeting that valuation, but several top Premier League teams interested in a striker, including Tottenham, believe he can be a solution and show his best level in a counterattacking system in what is becoming a more expansive English top flight.

Tottenham just spent 60 million pounds on a No. 9 in Dominic Solanke, but they’d like to get more goal-scoring power from their forwards. Richarlison is a nonfactor, as is Timo Werner, and Solanke and Son Heung-min have only 12 combined goals in the first half of the season.

But signing Kolo Muani is going to be difficult, even if Daniel Levy shares a good relationship with PSG. According to a report from Sky Sports, Juventus are actually the ones in the best place to sign the PSG forward, because, as of right now, the 26-year-old prefers the Serie A giants to other landing spots, such as Spurs.

Juventus have their own issues in the attack, as Dusan Vlahovic, who does admittedly have 12 goal all to himself this season, continues to struggle with consistency woes.

Instead of selling Vlahovic to the Premier League, which is a potential possibility, Juve could try to nab Kolo Muani as a speedy, all-around partner for Vlahovic, who has been awfully isolated up top ever since joining the Bianconeri.

Both Juve and Tottenham are similar in the sense that they have one good striker but are missing something up top. They are different in two sense, though. The first in that Tottenham play a more attacking brand of football and the second in that Juve carry more name value for their historical accomplishments.

Juve are also in the Champions League and closer to qualifying for the Champions League next season. That might be big key to Kolo Muani favoring the Italian giants, and in order to bridge that gap, Tottenham may have to flex their greater financial might in the Premier League by paying up more to convince the striker to choose them. And that might push this over to being a bad deal for Spurs.
