Here are the player ratings as, this time, Barcelona come from behind to get a vital three points in the LaLiga title race, beating Atletico Madrid 4-2 at the Wanda.
Atletico Madrid Player Ratings
GK Jan Oblak, 6.0
LB Reinildo, 4.0
Constantly in the battles on both ends of the pitch but rather fortunate not to have been sent off for his first-half shenanigans. It’s games like this where you wonder if he’s good enough to start for Atletico Madrid.
CB Clement Lenglet, 7.0
A strong defensive performance against his former employers. He’s really turned his career around.
CB Robin Le Normand, 6.5
Good defensively but simply not up to the standard with the ball at his feet.
RB Marcos Llorente, 4.0
Horrible performance on that right flank. He offered zero going forward for Atletico Madrid and had a rough time tracking his markers defensively. Spent most of the game complaining about ticky-tack calls to the referee.
LM Samuel Lino, 5.5
Ran well but looked more likely to get a booking than get a goal or an assist for Atletico Madrid.
CM Pablo Barrios, 7.5
Created chances and worked hard defensively in the midfield. Barrios did so well in transitions and was one of the unsung heroes for Atleti.
CM Rodrigo De Paul, 3.0
Terrible. The worst player on the pitch. De Paul couldn’t complete pass to save his life, was torn to shreds by Pedri defensively, and made so many wayward shots and passes in the final third that you could only guess where the ball would ultimately end up. He needs to get it together or get out of this club.
RM Giuliano Simeone, 7.0
Grabbed an assist and provided a real attacking spark on the right side of the formation with his explosiveness, but, goodness, does he need to cut down on the nonsensical play-acting.
ST Julian Alvarez, 6.5
Provided a few moments of danger and scored the opener on what was essentially an open net, but, by and large, it was only a decent performance from Julian Alvarez.
ST Antoine Griezmann, 7.5
Another quietly excellent performance from the Atletico Madrid club legend. It was Antoine Griezmann who created the first goal with a brilliant cross to Giuliano Simeone, and he played a key role in the second goal, too.
Barcelona Player Ratings
GK Wojciech Szczesny, 6.0
LB Alejandro Balde, 5.5
CB Inigo Martinez, 7.0
Lucky not to have conceded a penalty in the first half, but, overall, had a good game on both ends of the pitch, including getting up into the final third and assisting Robert Lewandowski’s brilliant opener for Barcelona.
CB Pau Cubarsi, 7.5
Tremendous on the ball with his passing and solid defensively. He is by far the best center back in Barcelona.
RB Jules Kounde, 7.5
Defended at a high level and even saved a goal for Barcelona. He can do it all on that right flank and has grown into a top right back.
CM Pedri, 7.5
Bossed the midfield at times and created more chances than his teammates. He is the man with the dancing feet and begins all the good moves for the Blaugrana.
CM Marc Casado, 5.5
Hooked off before the 70 minute mark after making a minimal impact on the game and failing to convince in his defensive coverage of Atletico Madrid counerattacks.
AM Dani Olmo, 5.5
Created one nifty chance for Lamine Yamal in the early minutes, but his influence on the game waned badly before his substitution. Barcelona need to start seeing a more material return on their inflated investment.
LW Raphinha, 7.0
Got an assist with a wicked cross and defended well throughout. Never gave up despite having a rough start to the match. Sealed the deal with an easy second assist for Ferran Torres to put the game away 4-2 for his brace.
ST Robert Lewandowski, 7.5
Produced chances out of nothing, including an amazing opening goal where he chested it down and struck the ball beautifully in Jan Oblak’s left corner on the half volley. Even when he seems like he’s going quiet, LaLiga’s leading goal-scorer makes the difference.
RW Lamine Yamal, 7.5
Missed three great chances but made up for it with a wickedly deflected winner from outside the box. Even when it doesn’t look like Yamal’s day, he ends up with more dribbles completed than anyone else on the pitch and is a cut above the rest of the players out there. And he defends well, too.
