When building your La Liga Fantasy 2025/26 squad, locking in a dominant center‑back is non‑negotiable. These are the top 10 La Liga centre‑backs who delivered elite defensive returns, clean sheets, and bonus‑scoring consistency. Anchoring your backline with reliable figures can set you apart.
This ranking fuses defensive metrics, bonus‑point impact, and real‑world form to highlight the best CB assets, shining a spotlight on the most effective picks for fantasy managers chasing clean sheets and wins.
10. Antonio Raillo, Mallorca
Mallorca have started to play a little more exciting on the attacking end over the past couple of years since their return to La Liga, but make no mistake, this team was built on hard-nosed defending, and when the matchup is right, they are absolutely lockdown on the defensive end on their own home turf.
Nobody embodies the rugged defensive work at Mallorca better than 33-year-old Antonio Raillo. He loves racking up clean sheets, and he’s even chipped in with goals, scoring two of his own last season.
9. Natan, Real Betis
Real Betis have a host of underappreciated defenders who are among the best in the league, and summer signing Natan from Napoli could be this season’s breakout La Liga center back.
Natan already impressed in 2024/25 in the city of Seville with just 0.1 dribbles completed allowed and as a projected full-time starter now that he’s on the books permanently, Natan has the upside to stack up fantasy points, using his athletic ability to win the ball and even help the attack.
8. Loic Bade, Sevilla
Loic Bade does so much of his best work off the ball, so he may not be as much of a fantasy scorer as his quality would indicate. But he’s still solid in the tackle and in the air, as well as being world-class on the ball, even if that goes underappreciated at a club like Sevilla, which is currently in a dark period.
The Europa League winner could legitimately play for just about any club in European football, and he’s a safe bet to produce another strong season in the 2025/26 campaign.
7. Eder Militao, Real Madrid
Eder Militao isn’t as safe of a bet, but that’s only because he’s coming off a torn ACL in his other knee. Before the injuries, Militao was the best center back in La Liga, grabbing the brass ring from Raphael Varane as a more active central defender than the iconic Frenchman.
Assuming Militao is relatively healthy in 2025/26, the Real Madrid star should be one of the top scoring center backs in the Spanish top flight with his vision to pick out the pass and his combination of strength and speed.
6. Robin Le Normand, Atletico Madrid
In truth, Robin Le Normand didn’t have a great scoring season in his first campaign with the Rojiblancos, but he was solid overall as a newcomer to the Diego Simeone system with the upside to score a lot more points in Year 2.
Atleti remain active in the summer transfer window with intentions on competing for the La Liga title and even the Champions League. Le Normand is great on the ball and has been a consistent performer at the La Liga level since the 2019/20 season.
5. Inigo Martinez, Barcelona
Another former Real Sociedad star who is now competing for titles, Inigo Martinez bet on himself by resisting against a summer transfer last year, and he ended up coming out of nowhere to become the best center back on a Barcelona team loaded up with options (but also hit hard by injuries).
Following up on the campaign won’t be easy for the 34-year-old Basque star, but given his track record in La Liga with three different clubs, it would be foolish to bet against the hard-nosed left-footer from putting together another solid season for the Blaugrana.
4. Marc Bartra, Real Betis
Previously a meme thanks to Gareth Bale, Marc Bartra has now quietly emerged as one of the best center backs in La Liga and someone who should be getting more shouts as among the best in Europe as a whole.
Bartra was splendid for Real Betis last season, reading the game expertly and racking up clearances. Betis will have a strong defense next season with Natan emerging, and Bartra should have plenty of points in him.
3. Dani Vivian, Athletic Club
Dani Vivian is one of the elite center backs in La Liga, and it’s a credit to Athletic Club for unearthing him and even giving him the keys to the kingdom in his first season back in 2021/22.
The 26-year-old just keeps getting better and better every year, supplying passes, reading the game, making crunching tackles, and marking top strikers out of the game. Athletic Club defenders, in general, are worth betting on, and Vivian is the new face of this back line.
2. Pau Cubarsi, Barcelona
Inigo Martinez was the top performer for Barcelona’s defense last season, but the unit unmistakably belongs to Pau Cubarsi in the future. The 2025/26 season could be the year Cubarsi goes from top young player to top player overall, making a name for himself as the best center back in European football.
From a La Liga Fantasy perspective, there’s additional upside for Cubarsi as one of the best ball-playing center backs in La Liga on a team that loves to have the ball and, under Hansi Flick, loves to get the ball forward quickly.
1. Dean Huijsen, Real Madrid
New Real Madrid transfer Dean Huijsen will be entrusted as a starter immediately, and since Antonio Rudiger had a poor 2024/25 season and Eder Militao is coming off another torn ACL, the Bournemouth breakout star will likely be Real’s No. 1 center back in the 2025/26 season.
Huijsen is as techincally sound as they come at the center back position, and from an all-around quality perspective, he is, in some ways, Real’s counterweight to Cubarsi.
Since he proved it in the Premier League and has less competition with Real’s defensive woes, Huijsen is the highest-upside pick of the litter at center back in the Spanish top flight.
