Transfer Rumors: Why Roma could sign Federico Chiesa in summer 2024 window

Federico Chiesa is one of the most talented footballers in Italy, but the Juventus winger could push himself out of the club after being phased out of his favored role under highly defensive manager Max Allegri.

Speculation regarding Chiesa’s future with Juventus has run rampant throughout the 2023/24 season, with Juve’s early season run of form and battle with Inter Milan for the Scudetto fading.

Roma could be there to take advantage. They already signed one of the best players in Serie A from Juventus for free, reaching the Europa League Final in 2023 thanks to the heroics of a certain “jewel” named Paulo Dybala.

Now, according to Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo, Roma have concrete interest in Federico Chiesa, and it is Roma legend and current manager Daniele De Rossi who is pushing to sign the Juventus winger due to their great rapport.

Chiesa is considering leaving Juventus for Roma and has a big decision to make that may be more complicated due to the interest from De Rossi and Roma.

The Giallorossi will likely lose Romelu Lukaku this summer after a highly disappointing loan spell from Chelsea, considering Lukaku was solid for Inter Milan last season – reaching the Champions League Final and winning the Coppa Italia – while also being a former MVP of Serie A and title winner in 2021.

Dybala has the right side of the attack locked down, but Roma need a star on the left side of the formation. Chiesa can be that guy. The European Championship standout looked like a star in 2020/21 for Juventus before injuries and Allegri derailed his career in Turin.

Roma could resuscitate a player who should, on paper, be an MVP candidate in Serie A. Perhaps Dybala could consider joining De Rossi in the Chiesa recruitment effort amidst the current contract unrest with Juventus.
