AC Milan Predicted XI vs. Venezia: Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez back in

AC Milan will face Venezia in Serie A this weekend on Saturday night at the San Siro. The Rossoneri are reeling to start the 2024/25 season, having lost to newly promoted Parma with draws agains Torino and Lazio.

So that is no wins in three matches for new manager Paulo Fonseca, who was already under pressure the second he took the job, as Milan fans and legends were hoping for a bigger name to replace 2021/22 Scudetto winner Stefano Pioli.

Milan are expecting nothing less than a convincing win against underdogs Venezia, who are back in Serie A after being bounced back down to the second flight after just one season in Serie A a couple of years ago.

Here is a look at how AC Milan could line up at the San Siro on Saturday night in Serie A vs. Venezia.

GK Mike Maignan, LB Theo Hernandez, CB Strahinja Pavlovic, CB Matteo Gabbia, RB Emerson Royal

Emerson Royal has been a predictable disaster to begin his Milan career, and it’s anyone’s guess as to why the Rossoneri paid good money to sign him from Tottenham this past summer.

Strahinja Pavlovic has at least been a positive, and neither he nor Matteo Gabbia should be tested at all by the Venezia attack. Theo Hernandez has to start after Fonseca’s hare-brained decision to bench him against Lazio.

CM Youssouf Fofana, CM Tijani Reijnders, AM Ruben Loftus-Cheek

This midfield trio is solid but has holes defensively, which won’t be exposed at all by Venezia. If this trio doesn’t run rampant at home in this game, then that will be a serious disappointment.

LW Rafael Leao, RW Christian Pulisic, ST Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham starts up top for Alvaro Morata, as the summer signing from Roma has proven to be an immediate asset with a brilliant assist for hero Rafael Leao, who rescued a point from the jaws of defeat for Milan before the September “break”.

Leao needs to start again with Theo on that left-hand side. On the right lies Christian Pulisic, who will want to prove that his brilliant first season in Milan was no fluke.
