Arsenal right back Takehiro Tomiyasu has found it difficult to make an impact for the Gunners due to a combination of injury and the fact that the other fullbacks have been so excellent.
Ben White has made the right back position his home, while Riccardo Calafiori has joined the club as a left back option alongside Oleksandr Zinchenko, who previously had Jakub Kiwior to contend with.
Tomiyasu is a quality right back who can even start as an inverted left back or center back, but the 25-year-old hasn’t been able to start more than the 10 games he started last season for Arsenal.
As Arsenal await Tomiyasu’s return from a knee injury to make his first appearance of the 2024/25 season, they are fielding transfer offers for the former Bologna, like Calafiori, star.
According to Calciomercato, Arsenal have received transfer interest from Juventus, Inter Milan, and Napoli in Serie A. These are all big clubs that have won Serie A at least once in the last five years.
Juventus appear to be the favorites and are reportedly set to formally inquire to sign Tomiyasu in the January transfer window, but Inter have been linked to the Japanese international before, too.
A technical player at right back, Tomiyasu is worth 20 million euros in the eyes of Arsenal and could be a reasonable signing who could feasibly start for any of these three teams, with Antonio Conte’s Napoli providing him the easiest path to playing time.
Tomiyasu is still valued by Arsenal and would have a role with the Gunners, but he could obviously get more playing time in Serie A and seems to fit the Italian top flight better, too.
Of course, Tomiyasu can’t make a move until he’s healthy, and, based on recent comments made by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, the defender remains without a clear timetable for return.
