Barcelona could finally give Ansu Fati his first shot at a comeback

Barcelona have won their last two matches against BSC Young Boys and Deportivo Alaves by a combined score of 8-0, getting back to their dominant ways under new manager Hansi Flick in order to recover from a shock 4-2 defeat against Osasuna.

At the October international fixtures, Barcelona sit atop the La Liga table, as they have truly boasted the most explosive attack in European football despite all the hype surrounding arch rivals Real Madrid, the defending Spanish and European champions.

Barcelona have two dates with destiny in October against long-time Champions League nemesis Bayern Munich and then Real Madrid in El Clasico. Before that, though, they will face another historic La Liga side in Sevilla, who can be dangerous even when they are in their worst moment.

The Blaugrana will face Sevilla this weekend at the Camp Nou, and it looks like they could have a surprise starter with the potential to make a major impression on Flick.

According to Diario Sport, with forward Ferran Torres out injured and young phenom right winger Lamine Yamal likely out after suffering an overload, the path could be clear for Ansu Fati to make his first start of the 2024/25 La Liga season.

Fati has returned to Barcelona in 2024 after an unsuccessful loan spell at Brighton in which he flashed potential for Roberto De Zerbi but ultimately could not shine, lacking momentum or convincing star power.

Before Yamal, Fati was the biggest sensation in world football, and he is still only 21 years old. With three appearances under Flick this season between the Champions League and La Liga, Fati is ready for his first real opportunity against a very beatable opponent in Sevilla.

Whether or not Barcelona actually go through with giving Fati a start remains to be seen, but with Flick coaching him and Dani Olmo and Raphinha playmaking by his side, the chances of Fati impressing are higher than the cynics will have you think.
