Barcelona showing interest in the Premier League’s best player

Barcelona have assembled a juggernaut beyond their wildest imagination thanks to the innovative mind of Hansi Flick, whose squad has already registered 40 goals in LaLiga this season – a pace even surpassing MSN.

The centerpiece of their squad is teenage phenom Lamine Yamal, by far the best young player in the world. Barca’s attack also includes Robert Lewandowski, easily the Pichichi favorite, and still a third Ballon d’Or candidate in breakout star Raphinha.

Both Yamal and Raphinha are right wingers by trade – and elite ones, at that – but Flick has managed to keep both as regulars by playing Raphinha in a hanging left wing role where he can get behind the defense, attack the mild of the pitch off the ball, hold width with his speed, or act as a playmaker.

Barcelona clearly don’t need a third world-class right winger, and yet the transfer rumor mill indicates that the Blaugrana are tracking the biggest market opportunity in the summer 2025 window.

Per a report from Diario Sport, Barcelona are monitoring Liverpool star Mohamed Salah as a possible signing to a pre-contract agreement this winter, as the Egyptian icon has yet to sign a new contract with the Reds.

Salah is undoubtedly the best player in the Premier League based on current ability and past pedigree, as he is still going strong at the age of 32 as a goal-scoring and even playmaking threat on the right wing.

But it’s unclear if Salah is bette than Yamal right now, as Yamal has been playing better than anyone in the world this season. Raphinha is putting up superior numbers to Salah in the Flick offense, too.

Salah as a free transfer may be too enticing to pass up on, and imagine the bragging rights Barcelona would have over Real Madrid with Salah – once a Florentino Perez dream transfer target – merely being a depth option to Yamal.

It’s all too good to be true, though. Barcelona still have serious financial constraints, and while Salah would be free in terms of a transfer fee, his wages would be even more astronomical – only the Saudi Pro League could likely afford his demands if he chooses to walk away, alone from Liverpool.
