Brighton Women have ambitions of rising up the table in the FA WSL and eventually making it to European competition, much in the same way their men’s team made it to the Europa League in the 2023/24 season after several shrewd signings.
To that end, Brighton have signed two of the best attacking midfielders in the FA WSL in England legend Fran Kirby and another former Chelsea star in Jelena Cankovic.
But Brighton may not be done with adding attacking firepower ahead of the FA WSL transfer deadline tomorrow on Friday Sept. 13.
According to a report from Tom Garry of The Guardian, Brighton are now in advanced talks with Manchester United for the signing of 30-year-old right winger Nikita Parris.
A star for the England national team a few years ago, Parris is a former FA WSL champion with Manchester City and a former French league champion with the previous best team in the world, Lyon.
An electrifying dribbler on the wing, Parris also won the FA Cup last season for Manchester United. She was a part of the England side that conquered the Euros in 2022, and she is a former Champions League winner with Lyon.
So Parris could bring a ton of European pedigree with her alongside Kirby and Cankovic as another starting-caliber attacker for Brighton. The Seagulls are incredibly ambitious, and Parris, who once scored 19 goals in an FA WSL season for Man City, could be a strong member of this project.
