Aston Villa star striker Jhon Duran has become one of the most frequently mentioned names on the transfer rumor mill this winter despite the fact that there is logically a low likelihood of him moving from Villa Park in 2025.
That’s because Aston Villa already rejected lucrative transfer offers for Duran this summer when he was completely unproven, and now that he’s scoring goals with efficiency in the Premier League, his value has only gone up – and he feels settled with Unai Emery and the club after they backed him during those months of uncertainty.
But with intriguing success comes renewed interest from bigger parties, and Duran’s small breakout in the Premier League has caught the eye of the deep pockets of Qatar and PSG, who could look to Duran as a replacement for an exiting Randal Kolo Muani.
So far, most reports have stated that Aston Villa have greatly increased their asking price for Duran to at least 80 million pounds or potentially even 100 million pounds…and it looks like the fee could be even more than those figures.
That’s because according to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa are actually making it clear to clubs around the world that Duran isn’t sellable for any price this winter after he signed a contract extension in the Fall; he isn’t available for any team, regardless of their interest or the fee provided.
The news from the most prominent transfer insider in the game will come as music to the ears of Aston Villa supporters, who love Duran and know that he has the potential to be one of the best strikers in a few years.
At 21, Duran as a rare blend of finishing and athleticism, and although PSG have a ton of money, they aren’t going to be able to meet the valuation that Duran will be worth in a few years once he breaks out at Aston Villa.
And if Duran fulfills his potential as a world-class striker, that will be worth more than any fee to Aston Villa if the project keeps accelerating under Monchi and Unai Emery and Villa go from top-four contenders to title contenders in the Premier League with Duran as a centerpiece player up top.
