Fabrizio Romano reveals who clubs expect will become the next Real Madrid manager

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has landed himself in some hot water again after shoddy decisions and an overall lack of defensive structure led to another 4-0 implosion to arch rivals Barcelona in El Clasico.

Unlike the 2021/22 season, Carletto doesn’t have a commanding lead in the Spanish top flight and is now a clear second best to Barcelona in La Liga, leading to some urgency from Florentino Perez and the club to get things right.

Young stars like Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler, and Endrick are the future of world football, but these standouts have not been used optimally in a 2024/25 Real Madrid side that seems a little too catered to the star power of forwards Vinicius Junior and the struggling Kylian Mbappe.

Everyone knew that when Carlo Ancelotti was hired as Real Madrid manager, he was a stopgap manager after Zinedine Zidane’s sudden resignation in the face of unfair pressure from an ungrateful front office.

The next Real Madrid manager is the topic of great discussion among fans, and Fabrizio Romano recently said something that will make people double down on the rumors that former Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso will be the heir to Don Carlo’s Bernabeu throne.

Per Fab, the Real Madrid board and president Florentino Perez are in love with Alonso and view him as the ideal fit to be the next manager of the club. Additionally, Romano states that people around football expect the Merengue club to go after Alonso when the time comes to replace Ancelotti.

Alonso was undefeated for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga last season in his managerial debut, and with Die Werkself in the Champions League this season, he is still going strong.

A former great midfielder as well, Alonso has many similarities to Ancelotti as a player’s-first coach who can develop talent. However, Alonso seems to suit the modern game better with his tactical ideas and has more long-term upside at Real Madrid than the Italian mastermind.
