Real Madrid right winger Rodrygo Goes produced yet another sensational Champions League performance in the Merengue club’s 3-1 opening win against VfB Stuttgart.
Not only did Rodrygo assist the opener for Kylian Mbappe, putting the ball on a plate for the Frenchman to stroke home into an open net, but he was also at his vintage best as a dribbler and creator, consistently causing problems to the Stuttgart defense.
On top of his assist, Rodrygo created three chances in total and completed four dribbles, once again shining as brightly as any Real Madrid attacking star in a match against quality opposition.
Before the season, the Spanish media coined the nickname “BMV” for Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Junior, leaving Rodrygo Goes entirely out of the equation despite his heroics in two Champions League title triumphs.
Worse yet, the Ballon d’Or selection committee snubbed Rodrygo from the list of 30 finalists. With each passing week, Rodrygo makes the disrespect look more and more foolish.
His Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham gets more press, but Bellingham knows how amazing Rodrygo is and how much more credit he deserves. He joined Rodrygo in his comments earlier this season with some strong words for anyone who overlooks Rodrygo.
Bellingham said in a reply to Rodrygo’s post on Instagram, “Only the fools forget the R.”
Now that’s called being a great teammate. Who was out there calling Jude Bellingham selfish, arrogant, and someone who puts himself before the team? I wonder what they are doing now. Probably dead silent.
