Latest injury update on Trent Alexander-Arnold return

Liverpool star right back Trent Alexander-Arnold has been out since the Reds’ second leg Champions League Round of 16 defeat to PSG with a high-ankle sprain, which has caused him to miss one game so far.

According to a report from James Pearce of The Athletic, Alexander-Arnold is targeting an April return from his injury, meaning his return to Liverpool should be right around the corner.

Alexander-Arnold was not called up by England manager Thomas Tuchel for the March international fixtures due to the injury. Liverpool will play against Merseyside Derby rivals Everton next in the Premier League on Apr. 2.

After that Liverpool will battle a solid Fulham side on Apr. 6 on the road before returning home to battle West Ham on Apr. 13. Leicester City and Tottenham are the final two remaining April fixtures for Arne Slot’s men in April.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is still on the Real Madrid radar

Alexander-Arnold is enjoying another excellent season for Liverpool, even as rumors abound regarding his future at Anfield with Real Madrid dreaming of TAA and only TAA as their long-term right back solution to replace Dani Carvajal, who suffered a season-ending ACL tear this season.

One of the best wide playmakers of his generation, Alexander-Arnold is in the prime of his career at 26. He has scored two goals with six assists in the Premier League this season, averaging nearly two key passes per game.

On the defensive end, Alexander-Arnold has been actively putting in the effort with an impressive 3.5 combined tackles and interceptions per game for a Liverpool side that is in first in the Premier League by 12 points.

It’s good to hear word that Alexander-Arnold is returning from his injury soon and is on the mend, and, hopefully, Liverpool fans will have a more clear update on his injury return date after the break.

High-ankle sprains are nasty and can lead to reaggravations if not managed properly, so the key for Liverpool is to take things slowly with their world-class right back and make sure he is good for the long haul.

The Premier League title is pretty much Liverpool’s to lose, but after their Carabao Cup Final defeat to Newcastle and Champions League elimination at the hands of PSG, they certainly won’t take things for granted with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea lurking in the league’s top four.

As far as future concerns, this injury should not impact TAA’s contract negotiations with Liverpool.
