Leicester City must pony up more than £25 million for top striker target

Leicester City already acquired Premier League veteran Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace to boost their attack, but they are still looking to add a goal-scoring option to increase their chances of remaining in the top flight this time around.

Leicester City are after Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis, who scored 15 goals with 7 assists in the Greek top flight last season as one of the more well-rounded strikers in European football.

Ioannidis is a proven commodity at the European level now, too, as he shined in the Europa League last season with 5 goals in 5 starts (plus an appearance off the bench).

The 24-year-old marksman averaged 3.1 combined fouls drawn and dribbles completed in the Europa League, too, showing that he can offer more than even goals and assists to Leicester City.

According to a report from The Athletic’s Rob Tanner, Panathinaikos rejected one transfer offer from Leicester City and are looking to receive more than 25 million pounds in order to part ways with the young striker.

It’s unclear if the Foxes will keep pursuing Fotis Ioannidis, but with other clubs reportedly interested in the Greek breakout star, the Premier League returners are unlikely to get any sort of a discount on that 25 million pound asking price.

Leicester City may, therefore, be forced to look elsewhere at the striker position, but Ioannidis is someone who could greatly help the Foxes both in terms of goals and creative output as a dribbler and provider.

But there are other options on the market, and if Panathinaikos are going to ask for that much for Ioannidis, many Leicester City supporters will feel that the club is better off paying just a little bit more for a better option like Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, though he has plenty of competing interest from within the Premier League as well.
