Manchester United signed three former Bayern Munich stars this past summer transfer window, as they brought in defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui directly from the Bavarians while also signing young striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna – a former Bayern prospect.
So far, the early returns on the moves have been mixed, because while Mazraoui has been a major asset and Zirkzee has shown potential, the Red Devils sit 14th in the Premier League table at the October international stopping point.
Manchester United still have work to do with their squad despite a productive summer transfer window, which also included the blockbuster additions of young stars Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte from Ligue 1.
The Red Devils still have eyes on some big-name players in the coming 2025 windows, and Sky Sports Germany reports that Manchester United have their eyes on a trio of Bayern Munich superstars.
Left back Alphonso Davies and right winger Leroy Sane will be free agents in the summer 2025 transfer window, and Manchester United are interested in competing with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona in order to sign these two superstar players.
Manchester United currently have two left-footed right wingers in youngster Amad Diallo and 100 million euro transfer flop Antony, and it appears the Red Devils are ready to give up on the former Ajax man.
At left back, Man United are starting Diogo Dalot, who has been excellent in an inverted role. Behind him, the club also has a solid footballer in Luke Shaw, so Davies may prefer Real Madrid, where only Ferland Mendy would stand in his way right now.
Finally, Sky Sports Germany adds that after making an inquiry this past summer, Manchester United will take another stab at signing box-to-box midfielder Leon Goretzka in January.
One of the best No. 8’s in Europe in 2019/20 when Bayern Munich won the treble under Hansi Flick, the former Schalke star’s play has fallen off sharply since then, and Bayern are visibly pushing him out of the Allianz Arena.
Manchester United would reportedly like to sign Goretzka as a Casemiro replacement, though the club already has two younger and better players in Kobbie Mainoo and Ugarte.
