Mikel Arteta pointed out exactly what Bukayo Saka needs to do to reach the next level

Arsenal superstar right winger Bukayo Saka is one of the best in the Premier League but many have noticed he isn’t impacting games like he should in the sense of fulfilling his Ballon d’Or potential.

Mikel Arteta told reporters ahead of the Arsenal Champions League fixture against Ligue 1’s Lille that he would like to see Saka do more to get into scoring positions and take that responsibility on as the next step in his evolution.

He said at the press conference, “That’s where we need to get him. And if he misses the chance, so be it. At the end, the more volume we generate, the bigger the probability of him scoring more goals. And he’s been getting into great positions. He’s getting shots, he’s getting one-touch finishes, tap-ins. And that’s the kind of unpredictability that we have created with that player, because otherwise we know how the opponents are going to protect him. “And he’s doing great. And he could have another four or five goals by now, easily. But if he continues like that, we know. So when he talks about, ‘I want to score a certain amount of goals’, he needs to be thinking about scoring a certain amount of goals per game, in terms of where he wants to be at the end of the season. “And if that shifts that mentality, he will get into those positions and score more goals.”

Arteta is 100 percent spot on here, and any Arsenal fan will wholeheartedly agree that Saka needs to be more ruthless in order to really reach the next level we all know he is capable of.

Arsenal fans have been waiting for that from Saka, and now let’s see if Arteta can unlock more from a player who has never scored 20 goals in a single Premier League season and only even hit 13 in the last two campaigns combined.
