Manchester United superstar winger Jadon Sancho hasn’t had a future at the club since falling out with manager Erik ten Hag, and the Red Devils finally admitted the situation was untenable when they loaned the English winger to Borussia Dortmund.
That was where Sancho first made a name for himself before joining Man United, as Sancho was one of the best players in European football during his time with BVB, recording double-digit assists in three separate seasons.
Now, Sancho is headed for a permanent move away from Old Trafford after shining with Dortmund in the second half of the 2023/24 season, heroically leading BVB to the Champions League Final after outshining current Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe in the semifinals vs. PSG.
Juventus are the club showing the most interest in Sancho, and, at this point, a deal between the Serie A giants and the versatile 24-year-old winger has already been agreed.
The problem is that there is a wage snafu that needs to be sorted out among Manchester United, Juventus, and Jadon Sancho before any deal involving the England international can be completed.
According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira on his YouTube channel, a transfer sending Sancho to Turin will be closed if and only if Manchester United agree to cover half of the former Manchester City prospect’s wages.
Sancho currently makes 13 million euros per season, which is indeed too much for Juventus, who are also busy saving up funds in order to sign Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners to close an eventful summer 2024 transfer window.
Therefore, Man United covering half the salary is essential, because 6-7 million euros is exactly what Juve can afford, especially if the Sancho transfer is to become permanent either this summer or next summer, which is obviously Man United’s preference.
With Chelsea and potentially others lurking, it would behoove Juventus to close the deal for Federico Chiesa’s replacement shortly, especially since the Bianconeri still would need to sell Chiesa afterwards.
