PSG offering Jhon Duran staggering salary increase to tempt striker’s transfer from Aston Villa

Aston Villa star striker Jhon Duran looks like he can be the next big thing in the Premier League, as he has broken out this season as Ollie Watkins’s more clinical backup with 7 goals in just around 600 minutes of league action.

Duran isn’t the full-time starter at Villa Park, but the 21-year-old’s time will surely come, as the Villains have always backed Duran fully, even after so many teams came forward with lucrative transfer offers last summer.

Now, Aston Villa are being rewarded after Unai Emery placed faith in the young striker, and Duran’s value has only doubled since then. But now, an entirely different bracket of teams to West Ham are after the Colombian standout, which will place more pressure on Villa’s resolve to keep their future superstar.

PSG are most prominently in the mix for Duran this winter, and with Randal Kolo Muani set to exit the Parc des Princes with the club admitting defeat on his 95 million euro transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt, they will have an enticing vacancy that Duran could fill.

According to a report from Diario AS, PSG are preparing to tempt Duran to join them by offering him a massive raise on his current 2.5 million euro wages with the Lions after he signed a new deal through 2029/30 in October.

PSG are reportedly willing to offer Duran an eight million euro per season contract, which is a raise of more than triple what he is currently making but also notably below what top earners at the Parisian club usually make.

For their part, though, Diario AS add that Duran is happy and settled at Aston Villa, which implies he is also happy with the compensation he received on a new deal. And it’s always worth noting that as Duran climbs the ladder in the squad, his wages can easily go up accordingly.

PSG are desperate to make splashes this winter after losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid for free and with such a poor start to their 2024/25 Champions League campaign.

But signing Duran seems like a stretch for PSG. Aston Villa have never shown any interest in getting rid of the 21-year-old striker, and while the Ligue 1 giants have money and status to tempt Duran, the trust Duran has from Villa and the prestige of the competition in the Premier League are items PSG can never touch.
