PSG Player Ratings vs. Arsenal as Donnarumma and Kvaratskhelia shine again

PSG are through to the 2024/25 Champions League Final after defeating Arsenal 2-1 at the Parc des Princes in the second leg of the semifinals, winning on a total 3-1 aggregate.

Here are the player ratings for every PSG starter vs. Arsenal as they prepare for Inter Milan next.

GK Gianluigi Donnarumma, 10

Literally a perfect performance in goal from Gianluigi Donnarumma. It doesn’t get any better than this. The Italian international made several jaw-dropping stops, with the best being an early save against Martin Odegaard than nearly injured him.

LB Nuno Mendes, 4.0

Incredibly error-prone and unconvincing one-on-one against Bukayo Saka. Had Saka been quicker and more decisive, Mendes would have been exposed worse than he was.

The Portuguese international constantly needed one or two teammates to help him. Mendes is great against the mid-level teams in Ligue 1, but his poor decision-making and ball security become magnified issues against the best of the best. Arsenal had him spooked on the ball all semifinal long.

CB Marquinhos, 7.0

Even though he made an error that led to Arsenal’s goal by crumbling like a sack of potatoes, Marquinhos was an effective leader and defender in this second leg win overall.

CB Willian Pacho, 7.5

One of the best defenders in world football right now, Willian Pacho blanketed Mikel Merino in the box and was PSG’s best player at effectively getting the ball out of danger.

RB Achraf Hakimi, 7.5

Although he was actually a bit sloppy with his passing and messed up a few good transitions, Achraf Hakimi showed, once again, why he is the best right back on the planet right now with a comprehensive display.

Hakimi won the duel defensively against a very game Gabriel Martinelli and sealed the deal with a beautiful curled effort that would make the world’s best left wingers proud.

CM Vitinha, 5.0

You could see the flashes of his sprightly brilliance in this one, including one great dribble by the goal line, but this was, overall, a subdued performance on both ends of the pitch from an uncharacteristically sloppy Vitinha.

His penalty miss was particularly egregious, as he went up to the ball Simone Zaza style, lingered too long, and then tamely made the ball dribble right to David Raya in a truly embarrassing and totally telegraphed penalty kick attempt.

DM Joao Neves, 8.0

Fought hard in midfield and won almost every challenge. Without his work rate, ball recoveries, and accurate passing to start transitions, PSG probably wouldn’t have won this game. He steadied them immensely and deserves so much praise for being the missing piece that has helped turn PSG into a true top team in 2025.

CM Fabian Ruiz, 7.0

Helped by a deflection, yes, but his volleyed opener was still struck so sweetly. Fabian Ruiz has certainly had more impactful games in a PSG uniform, but this was, overall, a solid display from a player more willing to defend than he was in his past at Napoli.

LW Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, 7.5

Outworked just about everyone on the pitch and clanged the post in the first half with a gorgeous effort from nowhere. He was the epitome of unselfishness, tracking back constantly to defend and popping up in transition all over the place to help PSG keep the ball.

Kvaratskhelia is an example for all wingers in world football of how important it is to a team to have a forward who thinks about making the smart play rather than helping himself. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli should be taking notes, too.

CF Bradley Barcola, 5.0

Bradley Barcola was hooked off after failing to offer much goal threat against the Arsenal center back duo. He worked hard to create chances for his teammates but often took the wrong option in possession and seemed a step too slow mentally for the pace of the game. Barcola is talented but has work to do.

RW Desire Doue, 7.0

Ran his socks off and while his decision-making and final ball let him down too many times to truly influence the game for PSG, Doue was still an asset to the home side on account of his sheer work rate and athleticism. He is such a gem.
