The Mohamed Salah to Saudi Arabia transfer rumors are about to heat up

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is one of the greatest players in the history of the Premier League and certainly the greatest player in the English top flight today, following Harry Kane’s exit to Bayern Munich this past summer.

Thanks to Salah’s 17 goals and 9 assists this season, Liverpool are in the Premier League title race after failing to make the top four in the 2022/23 season, but their contention for the top prize in England is coming to a screeching halt.

After yet another dreadful loss – and to rivals Everton, no less – at mid-week, Liverpool dropped more valuable points on Saturday with a 2-2 draw against West Ham.

But the big story after the game was the argument between Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp. Tempers are boiling with Liverpool seeing their grip on the title race slip away.

Salah wasn’t even in the starting XI for Liverpool, as Klopp inexplicably left his best player out of the starting lineup, utilizing a bizarre trio of Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, and Harvey Elliott.

When Klopp did call upon Salah to enter the match as part of a second-half triple substitution, the Egyptian icon could be seen visibly upset with the manager, to the point where striker Darwin Nunez had to physically get in the way to separate them.

After the game, Salah said, “If I speak today… there will be fire,” in response to the sideline altercation with Klopp, which came just moments after Michail Antonio hit the equalizer for West Ham.

Mohamed Salah has been the subject of transfer rumors during the 2023/24 season, because the Saudi Pro League is keen on signing veteran superstars from around Europe, specifically big names in the Premier League.

After adding Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino last summer, Saudi Arabia are planning on investing even more to sign Premier Leauge players who are still world-class. Salah is at the top of their list alongside Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.

For the most part, people haven’t ben taking the Salah to Saudi Arabia rumors seriously, just seeing them as rumblings. And even this altercation may not significantly change things, since Klopp is stepping down at the end of the season for Arne Slot anyway.

Perhaps Mohamed Salah is growing frustrated in general and wants a new challenge. Even beyond Saudi Arabia, PSG will be interested in another superstar, since Kylian Mbappe is going to Real Madrid.

They have just as much money to spend as the Saudi Pro League clubs and even more to offer with a current Champions League semifinal berth.

It’s hard to envision Salah leaving Liverpool this summer or even next summer, but as Salah creeps past 30 and with ridiculous sums of money thrown around by the Saudi Arabian government, perhaps the Premier League legend will be tempted.
