The player Manchester United see as a future superstar

Although Manchester United were highly disappointing in the Premier League last season, finishing in eighth, the Red Devils have high hopes for the future with a sea of talented young players in their first-team squad.

From new signing Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund, and phenom Alejandro Garnacho in the attack to Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte in midifeld, Manchester United are loaded with players who could be among the Premier League’s best for the next decade if all goes well.

Where Manchester United really got stronger this summer, though, was in the back four, as Man United came out of the 2023/24 season with serious deficiencies at the center back position due to an aging group of defenders surrounding centerpiece man Lisandro Martinez.

So Man United went out and nabbed Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich, an established superstar center back. They also went out and outgunned Real Madrid for 60 million euro signing Leny Yoro, paying a premium price to secure, by far, the best young central defender in the game.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are already buzzing about Yoro even before he has taken the pitch for the Red Devils as a result of a preseason injury.

Man United reportedly view Yoro as a future superstar and are ecstatic about what he can bring to the table, and that’s not a surprise at all, given Yoro was arguably the best center back in Ligue 1 last season at the age of 18.

Breaking into a Manchester United starting lineup with De Ligt and Martinez at center back isn’t easy, but if you can bet on one teenage talent doing that, then it would be Yoro, who was signed for 60 million euros to do more than merely be a passenger in his first season at Old Trafford.
