As Fabrizio Romano and others confirmed, Liverpool have reached an agreement with both Feyenoord and Arne Slot to make him their next manager, replacing Jurgen Klopp at the end of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
There are a lot of young stars on Feyenoord whom Slot could bring with him to Liverpool, but there are also star players from the Netherlands not affiliated with Feyenoord whom Slot could recruit to the Reds.
According to a report from Nicolo Schira, Arne Slot has been a huge fan of Atalanta center midfielder Teun Koopmeiners since watching him play for AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Liverpool remain interested in Koopmeiners, as they first started showing a desire to sign the Dutch midfielder during the 2022/23 season.
Although the Reds made midfield upgrades by signing Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Alexis Mac Allister this past summer, they are still in the market for more midfield help.
Koopmeiners has been one of the best players in Serie A this season, and just two seasons into his tenure with Atalanta, he is already one of the most coveted midfielders in European football.
Thanks to his technical quality, eye for goal, and defensive covering, Koopmeiners could be an excellent addition to the Liverpool midfield, which needs some more quality at the base of the formation.
Juventus are desperate to sign Koopmeiners and have made him their priority midfield target, in the hopes he can form a partnership that will coax the best out of the former Sassuolo star.
Liverpool fans will want to see how much pull the duo of Michael Edwards and Arne Slot has, because they will need to be on their “A” game in order to bring in the kinds of players who can help the Reds definitively beat Manchester City in the title race.
