Young Real Madrid star striker Endrick came off the bench against Stuttgart in his Champions League debut and produced yet another wondergoal that will live in the history books.
Channeling his childhood hero Bobby Charlton, Endrick unleashed an absolute rocket from way outside the box to beat the Stuttgart keeper for full pace, having carried the ball out of his own half.
Most young players would not have shot in that situation, because Endrick was actually leading a three-on-two counterattack. And who were the other two in the three? Literally the two best forwards in the world, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr.
But Endrick, as he said in the press conference after the Real Madrid win, believed the best option was to shoot from range instead of passing. And when you have his striking power and his left foot, then that is actually the right answer.
Real Madrid superstar goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, one of the most respected voices in the team, loved Endrick’s ballsy decision, “Endrick not passing to Mbappé or Viní Jr showed his great personality.”
Exactly. Endrick is like Cristiano Ronaldo or any of the other great goal-scorers in Real Madrid history in terms of his mindest. He is going to trust his quality and technique and just go for it.
Sometimes it won’t come off like that, so you have to accept it. But even if it comes off only 30 percent of the time, it’s still absolutely worth it. It’s awesome how Courtois, Antonio Rudiger, and other experienced Real Madrid teammates are showing Endrick the support to keep going for it.
I am sure Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. are the same way, because they have that exact mentality themselves as elite attackers.
