If Chelsea want to take their squad to the next level, here are three stars they need to go after in the summer 2025 transfer window.
RB Leipzig ST Benjamin Sesko
Chelsea have unearthed one of the better strikers in the Premier League in Nicolas Jackson, who has significantly improved his goal-scoring touch in his second season at Stamford Bridge since signing from Villarreal.
But if Jackson is one of the top strikers in the Premier League by comparison, that doesn’t mean Chelsea should still stand pat, because a lot of that is down to the fact that most of the other big clubs in England – Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are all lacking a great striker.
Because Jackson is at least decent, Chelsea don’t need to break the bank on, say, Newcastle star Alexander Isak. They can go for someone more affordable who can simply sit in the box and dominate to poach home goals; there isn’t a better finisher on the market than RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
Bournemouth CB Dean Huijsen
Chelsea have consistently made an effort to sign center backs on the transfer market from Ligue 1 duo Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi to Premier League starters Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, and Tosin Adarabioyo.
Aside from Badiashile, none of those guys have truly been a big-time flop, but Chelsea only really have on valid solution in Colwill. Tosin still feels like more of a veteran rotational piece, while Fofana needs to get healthy for a legitimate period of time before he can be fairly evaluated.
Chelsea could afford to roll the dice on another talented young center back, and at 19 years old with a 50 million pound release clause, there may be no better buy for the Blues than Bournemouth breakout center back Dean Huijsen.
AC Milan LB Theo Hernandez
Marc Cucurella is a great meme but nowhere near good enough to start for Chelsea. A squad player with plenty of dog in the fight? Sure. But someone who can stretch the field vertically and support Jadon Sancho or someone else on the left wing? Chelsea need someone a lot more talented on the ball.
The best possible left back on the summer 2025 transfer market would be Theo Hernandez, and if there’s any possibility AC Milan are foolish enough to let him go – and there are indeed links – then Chelsea had better get involved.
At 27, Theo only has a couple of years left in his true prime, but it’s better to spend, say, 30 million pounds on him as a proven left back than to drop 50 million on another wishwashy option, which is, you know, what Cucurella was when Todd Boehly plucked him from Brighton for no good reason.
Hernandez is a visionary on the left side who can score crazy goals and produce a high volume of chances. Even in a down year for an atrocious Milan, the Frenchamn is still averaging 1.5 key passes per game.
