Tottenham could find their ideal forward solution and cost Barcelona again

Tottenham got the better of Barcelona during the winter transfer window when they signed one of the top prospects in European football, Lucas Bergvall, over the Blaugrana when many footballing observers thought Bergvall to Barca was a slam dunk.

It’s not often you see Tottenham beating an elite European powerhouse with pedigree like Barcelona to a top young prospect, but Ange Postecoglou’s big winter coup could set the tone for another occurrence in the summer.

Except this time, Tottenham could actually sign an elite prospect directly from Barcelona and turn that player into an immediate part of the rotation.

Son Heung-min has had a huge bounce back season, but with Richarlison’s future unclear, Tottenham are still in the market for another striker, especially someone young with upside. Timo Werner’s future on loan from RB Leipzig looks a bit bleak.

According to a report from Diario AS, Tottenham are among the clubs interested in disgruntled Barcelona forward Vitor Roque, who joined from Brazil in the winter.

Roque, through his agent, has been making threats to leave Barcelona this summer because of his lack of minutes under Xavi, who seems to almost purposefully discard the talented striker.

Just 19 years old, Roque is one of the Brazilian prospects who has the quality to get minutes and start games at the top level. He wouldn’t be under that pressure at Tottenham, but since they don’t have someone like Robert Lewandowski who demands frequent starts, Ange Postecoglou would surely be willing to give him significantly more minutes.

It would be quite the story of Lucas Bergvall and Vitor Roque were to blossom with Tottenham while Barcelona wonder how on earth they missed out on two top prospects.

Barcelona still want to loan Roque out, but if Roque demands to go, he could force a transfer fee at a fraction of the initial 31 million euros the Blaugrana spent to sign him. That would be great for Tottenham.
