Transfer Rumors: Tottenham high on one of world football’s most intriguing left wingers

Tottenham finished fifth in the Premier League last season, and they are firmly pushing to return to the Champions League under new manager Ange Postecoglou, who has lit a fire under the club since replacing Antonio Conte.

Currently, Spurs are led by Son Heung-min, who, at 32, remains one of the best players in the entire Premier League. He is a great finisher from the left wing position with a ton of experience, and he still has speed to burn.

After signing well-rounded English striker Dominic Solanke this summer, Son has been able to return to the left wing, which is the position he’s best in despite a strong season overall at the 9 in 2023/24.

Despite Son still being a big threat in the Premier League, Tottenham are after a young left winger who can get minutes behind the South Korean superstar and eventually replace him.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham believe Borussia Dortmund standout Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is the right profile for what Postecoglou needs on the left wing and are monitoring him for a potential future signing.

Bynoe-Gittens is having the best season of his career so far despite not being a regular starter at Dortmund yet, as he’s scored some sensational goals with 3 in just 167 Champions League minutes.

The speedy winger is one of the most explosive athletes in a German league filled with talented attacking players, as he’s averaging an absurd five dribbles completed per game in the Bundesliga.

Although Bynoe-Gittens isn’t without his flaws – he is inconsistent and makes bizarre technical errors on the ball – he is rapidly improving and is still just 20 years old despite having multiple years with legitimate first-team experience for 2024 Champions League Finalists Dortmund.

Bynoe-Gittens is a quality, high-upside left winger for Tottenham to be monitoring as a possible Son understudy, but Spurs will have to see how his asking price and overall price point evolves based on Dortmund’s goals and the general transfer interest in the English forward.
