Transfer Rumors: AC Milan offer Liverpool blockbuster Federico Chiesa swap deal

Liverpool surprised a lot of fans around the world this summer when they acquired Federico Chiesa from Juventus, spending just 12 million euros to sign a player who was widely regarded as the most talented on the Bianconeri.

Chiesa arrived in Turin during the summer 2020 transfer window and was an immediate success, providing a spark alongside Alvaro Morata, Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala, and Dejan Kulusevski in what was the latest decent Juventus attack.

He then shined at Euro 2020 for champions Italy, but an ACL tear and poor management from the highly defensive Max Allegri led to the former Fiorentina star completely falling out of the picture after initially being tabbed as the future of Juve.

Many thought new manager Thiago Motta would back Chiesa and coax a bounce-back year out of the winger, but, instead, he devalued the Italian international further and made it clear Chiesa would have no part in his plans as a starter.

Thus, Liverpool were able to sign the 27-year-old for dirt cheap. But instead of finding his place in Liverpool, Chiesa has barely gotten games, buried on the left wing depth chart behind stars Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo, both of whom have enjoyed wonderful starts to the 2024/25 season under new coach Arne Slot.

So Chiesa is already the subject of transfer rumors just months after joining Liverpool, with many Italian outlets purporting that the big clubs in Italy – besides Juventus – are sending the Reds transfer offers.

The latest rumor from Milan Live states that not only are AC Milan interested in Federico Chiesa, but they have even submitted Liverpool a swap offer with attacking midfielder Tijani Reijnders heading in the other direction.

Slot may actually be intrigued by this deal, though it may be too good to be true, given Rejinders’ obvious importance to Milan on a team with little midfield depth and poor results in Serie A under Paulo Fonseca.

Reijnders has been a star for Milan since arriving in 2023 as a little-known Dutch standout. He has been more productive than Chiesa since his big move to Milan, outshining the Juve man in the 2023/24 Serie A season.

Liverpool probably aren’t going to give up on Chiesa before the season ends, and it’s honestly hard to believe Milan will trade Reijnders for a winger when they already have three great wingers in Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, and Samuel Chukwueze – all of whom have outplayed the Italian since 2022.
