The 2026/27 Premier League season will soon be upon us, and everyone is wondering who they should – or should not – sign for the upcoming in Fantasy Premier League. Here are five big names to avoid signing in FPL this year due to their cost and bust potential.
Arsenal CB William Saliba
One of the best but also one of the most expensive center backs in FPL, William Saliba is going to start the season recovering from a back injury. He is a world class player and probably the most talented player on Arsenal, but he’s also going to be a big injury risk this year and may be someone who flops badly because of it.
Tottenham Hotspur CB Marcos Senesi
Marcos Senesi was one of the top scorers in FPL last year, but that’s also because he played in a great scheme for him with Bournemouth. Spurs are not going to start Senesi, and while Roberto De Zerbi’s system does fit Senesi as a passer arguably even better than Andoni Iraola’s, it will also leave him exposed against dribblers. And Senesi is simply not going to start enough to justify playing, likely even splitting minutes with fellow backup Kevin Danso.
Arsenal RW Bukayo Saka
Bukayo Saka costs a fortune and is the only real star in this Arsenal attack, especially since the Vinicius Junior ploy failed, but Vini would have helped him. The England international is a passenger in too many games, his end product his falling off, and there are simply better and cheaper wingers to sign in the midfield slot, particularly those at mid level clubs who get a big share of the possession and can score goals. Saka doesn’t offer enough in other categories besides creative statistics.
Manchester United AM Matheus Cunha
Sometimes, Matheus Cunha has a huge week, but he is so volatile in FPL and may not be as important to Manchester United going forward. The Red Devils are looking for other options on the left wing, while Bruno Fernandes is entrenched as THE key man for the club in the middle as the No. 10. Cunha does score points, but there are better options in the midfield now, including Chelsea’s new signing Morgan Rogers.
Liverpool ST Alexander Isak
Always a mercurial striker, Alexander Isak did nothing in his first season under the pressure at Liverpool, and he will continue to find life much harder at Anfield than at St. James’s Park. He had issues with consistency at Real Sociedad, and his 2024/25 season has falsely inflated his reputation. This is now Hugo Ekitike’s team, and with Liverpool being too unbalanced in the middle, Isak is headed for another disappointing season and will likely be phased out entirely by Iraola.
