The Premier League returns this weekend after an even longer international break than usual. So let’s hype up the games being back by giving some love to the goalkeepers, using analytics to rank the best 10 keepers using only the first five games of the season.
10. Emiliano Martinez, Chelsea
The save percentage does not fully capture how well Emiliano Martinez has been playing. He’s not an elite Premier League goalkeeper anymore, but he is still excellent and a definite upgrade on Robert Sanchez for Chelsea. And honestly, his defense isn’t making him look any better.
9. Bart Verbruggen, Brighton
Bart Verbruggen needs to get more love as one of the world’s top goalkeepers, and there’s a reason why so many club have tried to steal him from Brighton. The Seagulls are getting a lot of press for having the most goals in the Premier League, but they’ve also been keeping the opposition out – and Verbruggen is a huge part of that.
8. David Raya, Arsenal
Funny enough, we’ve actually seen David Raya play at a higher level than this, but even a mediocre version of Raya is still one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League. The man is entrenched.
7. Zion Suzuki, Aston Villa
Zion Suzuki kept up the tradition of goalkeepers having blinders against Tottenham Hotspur, and the Japanese international is picking up where he left off in Serie A. I don’t think anyone has a better catalogue of highlight reel saves in the Prem right now.
6. Gianluigi Donnarumma, Manchester City
Speaking of highlight saves, Gianluigi Donnarumma’s reach and command of the box are just unreal. People try to slag him off as overrated, but I don’t think they are actually watching the games. The man is a monster.
5. Alisson Becker, Liverpool
Alright, if you thought Alisson Becker was finished, go sit in the corner. Alisson has saved 78 percent of the shots he has faced this season and is just about as good as ever. He’s the least of Liverpool’s problems.
4. Jordan Pickford, Everton
Jordan Pickford is quite the enigma and is almost the English equivalent of Emiliano Martinez, which is also to say that he’s very good. Of all the big names in the Premier League, Pickford has shown up the most with an insane 83.3 save percentage.
3. Konstantinos Tzolakis, Hull City
Tzolakis is the big breakout star in goal of the 2026/27 Premier League season so far, and he is so good and so reliable that he just might be the reason why Hull stay up.
2. Caoimhin Kelleher, Brentford
Caoimhin Kelleher looked like a stud in the making when he started for Alisson a couple of years ago in a Liverpool uni after the Brazilian international went down, and the crazy thing is that he may already be surpassing both Alisson and his Brentford predecessor David Raya. Those are the 1 and 2 biggest names in goal in the Premier League, arguably, and Kelleher is outplaying them with an 81.0 save percentage.
1. James Trafford, Leeds United
James Trafford has stopped nearly 90 percent of the shots he has faced with 0.60 goals allowed per game for a Leeds side that is punching above its weight in the top five. We are talking about a Premier League Player of the Season candidate here and an actual bargain at 40 million pounds. Maybe Manchester City didn’t need Donnarumma after all.
