Real Madrid fans will be pleasantly surprised by this Florian Wirtz transfer update

Although Bayer Leverkusen have only become the darlings of European football this season under Xabi Alonso, star attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz has been on the radar of elite clubs Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich for several years now.

Wirtz has been one of the Bundesliga’s best players since he was 18 and recording double-digit assists for Die Werkself. This season, he’s already at 11 to set a career high, along with 11 goals to set another career high.

Everyone wants to know what the future holds for Wirtz, who, like manager Xabi Alonso, is planning on staying with Bayer Leverkusen for the 2024/25 Champions League season before moving on to a new destination in 2025.

According to a report from BILD, Florian Wirtz and his family are planning their next step, and the most likely transfer is a move to Real Madrid in 2025.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona are heavily interested in Wirtz, viewing him as a priority target worth splurging all the cash on. Arsenal and Manchester City are two Premier League powerhouses also interested in the game-changing playmaker.

The funny thing is all these teams have world-class playmakers in their ranks. Real Madrid have Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler, and Brahim Diaz.

Bayern Munich have Jamal Musiala, Barcelona have Pedri and Gavi, Manchester City have Kevin De Bruyne and Julian Alvarez, and Arsenal have Martin Odegaard (and Kai Havertz, though he is playing further up now).

So Wirtz would have to compete at any stop he goes. The thing is, those teams can move their current players into other positions, such as Bellingham and De Bruyne moving a little back into more center midfield roles.

Wirz is a player worth spending on to accommodate. Real Madrid always want to sign the biggest superstars in the world, and with Kylian Mbappe and Endrick set to join Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, and Bellingham, the Merengues will have the biggest embarrassment of riches in European football.

Real Madrid are expected to go after Xabi Alonso in 2025 as a Carlo Ancelotti replacement, and there’s a sense the Spanish manager declined both Bayern Munich and Liverpool in order to wait for a move to Real Madrid.

Therefore, Wirtz and Alonso could hook up together, with Alonso being the one to find a creative way to feed all the talented mouths in Madrid for a new and improved Galacticos era.
