Thomas Tuchel basically admitted he wants to manage Manchester United next

Manchester United still aren’t sure what they want to do with Erik ten Hag, but since Thomas Tuchel is about to be available this summer, the Red Devils may be even more tempted to make a managerial switch with such an acclaimed name on the market.

Ten Hag isn’t viewed as unfavorably by INEOS as many thought – and certainly not as unfavorably as the way Man United fans feel about him.

That said, Tuchel is a former Champions League winner with Chelsea and finalist with PSG. He has experience in every top league besides Serie A and LaLiga, and he’s been a net positive for each of those clubs.

Even at Bayern Munich, Tuchel has done something positive, taking the team to the Champions League semifinals. There appears to be a lot of mutual interest between Manchester United and Thomas Tuchel, with most reporters indicating a desire from the German manager to coach at Old Trafford.

Now, Tuchel is publicly winking at INEOS and Manchester United. He told TNT Sports that he “loved” coaching in the Premier League and reaffirmed how much he enjoyed his time at Chelsea:

“I’d rather not answer but it is no secret that I loved it at Chelsea, I loved it in England and I loved it in the Premier League for sure.”

In the context of the transfer rumors to Manchester United, Tuchel’s statement is akin to a tacit admission that he has chosen the Red Devils has his next step.

Think about it. Where else is there for him to go? He’s certainly not staying amidst a barrage of disrespect and criticism at Bayern Munich, including harsh words from Uli Hoeneß up above.

Tuchel has limited options in the Premier League. Unless if Chelsea make a U-turn on Mauricio Pochettino and reunite with Tuchel, who may not want to work with Todd Boehly anyway, then it is Man United or bust among the elite. Liverpool have already chosen Arne Slot.

Manchester United under INEOS can be an attractive job for Tuchel. He will have the say he wants over personnel decisions and nobody in the Man United squad is truly untouchable.

Tuchel can get the power he desires at Old Trafford and has leverage, as Man United have become a less attractive destination for other managers. And the prestige Tuchel would receive for rebuilding Man United would give him a whole new legacy in world football.
