West Ham hit another low with embarrassing Jhon Duran transfer approach

Even though Aston Villa turned down every possible transfer approach for Jhon Duran in the summer 2024 market, the Colombian striker continues to be one of the hottest topics on the mercato entering 2025.

Not only are PSG in hot pursuit of the 21-year-old sensation as a potential replacement for the departing Randal Kolo Muani, but it appears an old suitor have circled back around with significant interest in the future superstar.

According to a report from Football Insider, West Ham submitted yet another transfer off for Duran, submitting a bid of 50 million pounds to Aston Villa for the striker with 7 Premier League goals this season in around 600 minutes.

It’s an embarrassingly low offer from West Ham and something of a trademark move by David Sullivan to bid 50 million pounds for a top young striker that is worth at least 30 million pounds more than that on the open market.

Basically, West Ham know they desperately need a striker this winter again after losing Niclas Fullkrug to injury in the FA Cup against Aston Villa, and there are legitimate options within their budget who could help the team.

Instead of pursuing those or at least submitting a serious bid for Duran, West Ham are insulting Aston Villa by submitting an offer even lower than their summer asking price, which has since doubled this winter after Duran’s great start to the 2024/25 season.

That way, Sullivan and the West Ham board can say, “At least we tried” to the fans, thinking the supporters will be foolish enough to accept this insultingly low, unserious transfer offer to Aston Villa as a legitimate ploy for a striker.

West Ham, as an organization, don’t have any goodwill with their fans at this point after the failed hire of Julen Lopetegui, several ill-advised summer transfers, and a poor start to the season. Moves like this won’t help anyone.
