West Ham reportedly no longer in the running for three January 2025 striker transfer targets

West Ham are in the market for a new striker this January after watching Niclas Fullkrug go down with yet another injury, one that will cost him the next three months and leaves the highly underwhelming Danny Ings as the only out-and-out No. 9 available.

The Hammers signed Fullkrug this past summer window, but he has failed to make an impact due to injuries. With Jarrod Bowen also out, the club’s best option at striker under Graham Potter for the foreseeable future might very well be Mohammed Kudus as a false nine.

While West Ham are trying to show that they are serious about signing a new striker to their fans, their opening move to bid low for Jhon Duran won’t go over well.

And now, it looks like a few of the preferred options for the Hammers are off the table. According to a report from Hammers.News, there is no chance that West Ham are able to sign Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, Lille star Jonathan David, or Middlesborough No. 9 Emmanuel Latte Lath in the January 2025 transfer window.

That may be for a variety of reasons, including availability, but for West Ham supporters, it is discouraging to see three legitimate targets off the table, which makes it concerning that the Hammers won’t be able to sign anyone – or, worse yet, may go for someone who proves to be a huge waste of money.

David is a dream option for West Ham and one of the better strikers in European football, while Ferguson is a high-upside young striker with Premier League credibility.

Latte Lath is the wild card of the three, but with 10 goals for Middlesborough in the Championship, the 26-year-old is probably better off being off the Hammers wishlist anyway.

Ferguson has been the most linked to West Ham this January, so his inclusion in the report as an impossibility is perhaps the most alarming. But given that he is currently injured and has an injury history already, many West Ham fans won’t be too upset about missing out on him.

With a dearth of options available, it’s anyone’s guess as to who West Ham will be able to secure for Potter this winter, but, again, the real fear here is that the Hammers are getting the hopes of the fans up – if that’s even possible at this point – only to let them down by February.
