West Ham United are not condemned to relegation yet, but they are in the relegation zone and their additional financial difficulties make it plausible that stars like Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville, and Matheus Fernandes could be on the market.
Manchester United could actually convince themselves that any of these three players could help, especially the young guns Summerville and Fernandes, but the latter may be the best target for them given their need for midfield talent.
According to a report from Alex Crook of talkSPORT, Fernandes wants to leave West Ham at the end of the season if they are relegated, and Manchester United are among the clubs interested in the breakout star. The Red Devils have reportedly scouted him.
Just 21 years old, Fernandes has been one of the stories of the season along with another great midfielder from a relegation team whom Manchester United want to sign, Elliot Anderson.
Man United want to sign at least two midfielders this summer, so Fernandes could pair well with a bigger, more experienced name like Bruno Guimaraes or Sandro Tonali.
This season, Fernandes is averaging around four combined tackles and interceptions per game, one key pass per match, and 1.4 fouls drawn per game. He has even contributed to six goals for the Hammers.
