Alisson Becker is one of the most important players to Liverpool, but with his contract running down and speculation that clubs like Juventus were after him as a goalkeeper upgrade, the Reds needed to make sure to keep the rumors at bay.
And they have done just that. According to a report from Paul Joyce of the Sunday Times, Liverpool have triggered the option in Alisson’s contract to keep him around for the 2026/27 season.
It is an obvious decision. Although Alisson has been disappointing this year along with the rest of his Liverpool teammates, there is no question that he is one of the top five goalkeepers in the world, if not the top two behind only Thibaut Courtois of Real Madrid.
Liverpool have a long term successor in Giorgi Mamardashvili, but he is not yet ready to replace Alisson as a leader, shot stopper, and in terms of his work on the ball.
