The Champions League Round of 16 definitely delivered on the drama and the goals in the first leg, and the second leg promises to be even better. Here are the full score predictions for each of the eight games.
Chelsea 2-2 PSG
Chelsea will rue Liam Rosenior’s decision to give Filip Jorgensen the nod, and the most laughable part of that whole ordeal is that the manager’s reasoning was that Jorgensen would be better on the ball. Whoops.
At home, Chelsea will have a point to prove and will go into this game with no fear, but they just do not have the quality to turn the tie around against a PSG side that is finally starting to play to its talent level when it matters most.
Liverpool 2-1 Galatasaray
Trips to Istanbul are never easy, and while Liverpool have major issues with their squad and serious deficits on the wings compared to the real contenders in the Champions League, it would be a shock for them to screw this up at Anfield.
See, Anfield is like a Santiago Bernabeu lite in the Champions League, and I don’t mean that in any slight against the Reds. It is a magical venue, and Mohamed Salah and the Reds will feel the magic with a last gasp goal to send them through to the quarterfinals.
Manchester City 1-1 Real Madrid
Nobody likes to play Real Madrid in the Champions League – not even Manchester City – and while the Citizens will not have to face the Santiago Bernabeu this time, going up against Thibaut Courtois in a matchup like this is a gauntlet.
Real will be getting Alvaro Carreras and Jude Bellingham back in the mix, and while this defense is suspect, they will bend but not break against a Man City team that has been playing a bit under the weather offensively, too.
Bayern Munich 5-0 Atalanta
Bayern Munich blasted Atalanta 6-1 in Bergamo, and they are going to have a similarly grand day against La Dea this week in the Champions League with their iconic goal song blaring out the stadium. They won’t need Harry Kane for this one either.
Barcelona 4-3 Newcastle
Barcelona vs. Newcastle was a tense affair in the first leg without a wild outpouring of goals, and the Magpies will feel they should have put the Blaugrana away with all they were creating.
And they will rue that mistake at the Spotify Camp Nou. Lamine Yamal and Raphinha tend to turn it up when it matters most, and while Newcastle will get the better of Hansi Flick’s low block, the superstar wingers and midfielders of the Blaugrana will up the ante in the second half for a thrilling victory.
Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 Atletico Madrid
It’s safe to say nobody cares about this game after how badly Tottenham Hotspur were dismantled in the first leg, but they are usually better in the Champions League and may have actually won had it not been for slipping on their own field.
At home, Spurs will mount a much better display and surprise some people. Ultimately, they will get knocked out anyway, but Mathys Tel and Co. will give Spurs positive momentum they can take with them into the relegation battle.
Sporting CP 1-2 Bodo Glimt
Bodo Glimt cruised to victory in the first leg, and they will do so again in the second, even away from home. They are clearly the superior side to Sporting and legitimately have what it takes to beat anyone in this competition. Watch out.
Arsenal 1-0 Bayer Leverkusen
Arsenal were fortunate to have drawn in the first leg in Leverkusen, with Noni Madueke’s dive playing a big role in the outcome. At the Emirates, Arsenal will prove too good for a Leverkusen side that has been pretty mediocre in the Bundesliga this season.
