With poor results in Serie A mounting and now a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League, AC Milan could make a drastic move at coach and rectify their controversial decision to hire Paulo Fonseca as the replacement for Stefano Pioli.
If Milan were looking to hire a coach to take them to the next level from Pioli, who won Serie A and reached the Champions League semifinal a season later, then Fonseca wasn’t it.
Now, Milan are trying to find an elite option to recover the squad’s chances, and they could be turning to an intriguing name who has Champions League winning experience.
According to a report from Milan News, AC Milan have reached out to former Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Chelsea, and PSG coach Thomas Tuchel, who was courted heavily by Manchester United earlier this year before turning them down.
Tuchel is the hottest free agent available and waiting for the right gig. Perhaps that job could be Milan, as Serie A is one of the remaining two top leagues that Tuchel has yet to bring his talents to.
Though he can be controversial and rubbed people the wrong way in Bavaria, Tuchel is a much bigger name and a more proven coach than Fonseca, who has never even been competitive at the Champions League level.
