Adrien Rabiot’s mother pushing for a Manchester United transfer

Manchester United made a handful of major signings this summer, and the one who may most immediately boost the club’s fortunes is former PSG defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The Casemiro replacement next to phenom Kobbie Mainoo, Ugarte had been Man United’s top midfield target all along this past summer, and he became a guaranteed transfer when PSG went for Benfica’s Joao Neves as the Uruguayan’s replacement.

But Manchester United could use one more midfielder as a boost this season, and they can still sign free agents even after the transfer window has ended. The best free agent available is another former PSG midfielder, Adrien Rabiot, who most recently played for Juventus.

A starter for the French national team, Rabiot has been hotly linked to Manchester United for years and was close to a move to Old Trafford during the actual window, but no deal could be struck because of his and his mother’s (his agent) exorbitant wage demands.

Now, though, Diario AS is reporting that Rabiot’s mother is pushing hard for her son to join Manchester United.

Perhaps she is seeing the light that Manchester United is the best spot, that nobody else wants Rabiot at a high wage price, and that her client’s options are basically non-existent at this stage.

Rabiot wasn’t a star for Juventus, but he was a competent ball-winner and progressor who can help Manchester United as a rotational option – provided, of course, he comes at the right price.
