The 10 best Sevilla players the whole world forgot

In all honesty, Sevilla have been pretty terrible lately, so you'd be forgiven if you forgot that they are legitimately one of the biggest clubs in Spanish football and were in the LaLiga title discussion with Real Madrid as recently as the first half of the 2021/22 season. But since then, Sevilla have been a step above Spain's Schalke or Bordeaux, finishing 12th and 14th in LaLiga in the last two seasons. They were even flirting with relegation in the 2022/23 season before winning the Europa League and charging up the table under miracle-worker Jose Luis Mendilibar. Right now, Sevilla are so bereft of talent that Valencia's Peter Lim is probably feeling pretty good about himself in comparison. They just sold their only legitimate goal-scoring threat, Youssef En-Nesyri, to Fenerbahce...

A young star Brighton can’t afford to sell this summer

Brighton have one of the best collections of wonderkids in all of world football. The Seagulls had six Golden Boy nominees last season. No other club had more than four players nominated. One of the jewels in Brighton’s stable is Facundo Buonanotte. The 19-year-old Rosario Central academy graduate is already a full Argentine international and has been a regular rotation player for Brighton in the Premier League. Despite this, the club are reportedly open to letting him go this summer.  According to 1908.nl, a top Dutch outlet, Feyenoord have made a bid to bring Buonanotte in on loan. Other outlets have reported that the Eredivisie club are pushing for there to be a reasonable buy-option in the loan deal.  What “reasonable” means is unclear. Whatever the price though, Brighton shou...

Brighton prepared a very competitive offer for their new top target…but it wasn’t enough

Brighton are pushing hard to sign a right back this summer. The club have been linked to a number of strong players at the position. Out of all their targets though, none are better than Fenerbahçe’s Ferdi Kadioglu.  The versatile defender was linked to Brighton earlier in the window, but most reports made it seem that Fenerbahçe had priced Kadioglu out of a move. Sevilla, Dortmund, and Brighton, all supposedly refused to meet the Yellow Canaries’ asking price.  Despite the past failed attempt, Brighton have gone in again for Kadioglu.  According to a report from Caught Offside, Brighton prepared a new €30m bid for Ferdi Kadioglu. This is short of Fenerbahçe’s reported €35m-€40m asking price, but the club hoped it would be enough to get the deal done, considering it’s believed tha...

Brighton need to sell Tariq Lamptey or Joel Veltman in order to sign top RB target

Brighton have made signing a right back one of their top priorities this transfer window. The Seagulls have been linked to a number of big names, including Benfica right back Alexander Bah.  Brighton view Alexander Bah as their top RB target A new report now says the club will not sign any of those targets if they cannot offload some one of their current right backs.  According to Caught Offside, Brighton have made Alexander Bah their top transfer target. However, the club will not make an offer unless they sell Joel Veltman and/or Tariq Lamptey. Both players do not have certain futures at the club. Their contracts both expire next June.  Brighton could make a huge profit off Veltman and Lamptey If the club can sell Veltman and Lamptey before the end of the window, they could make a...

Brighton preparing to receive another Napoli transfer bid for Billy Gilmour

Napoli have not given up their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour. Gli Azzurri bid £8m for the Scottish international last week. Reportedly, Gilmour is one of Antonio Conte’s top transfer targets. The club are working hard to get the deal done before the start of the season.  Before Napoli can sign Gilmour, Gli Azzurri will need to get rid of some of their current players. Italian reporter Matteo Moretto revealed that Antontio Conte specifically identified the Scotsman as one his top transfer targets for this window.  The Italian manager spoke with Gilmour this week about a possible move. The 23-year-old is open to joining Napoli and personal terms are not going to be an issue. Is football’s congested fixture schedule beginning to show its negative effects?

While it was an amazing experience to watch Euro 2024 and Copa America simultaneously, questions have been raised about the lack of quality displayed in both tournaments. Copa America might have a bit of an excuse due to the competition's poor organization, which included adverse field conditions, extensive travel demands, and inadequate security protocols. However, Euro 2024 was generally underwhelming, especially from the teams considered favorites. Historically, teams have often started slowly and progressively improved throughout the tournament, but on this occasion, neither France, England, nor Germany (apart from their opening group game against Scotland) performed at their best. Interestingly, it was teams like Turkey, Austria, and even Romania who made more of an impact on the ...

Top young player admits he’s in talks with Brighton and wants a move

Brighton’s interest in Inter Miami midfielder Diego Gomez has officially gone from a tenuous transfer rumor to a full-on potential signing.  The 21-year-old midfielder revealed this week that he, his agent, and Miami are in discussions about a move to Brighton this summer.  “My agent is speaking to Inter Miami and Brighton & Hove Albion,” Gomez said to Spanish broadcaster Deporte Total USA after Inter Miami’s 3-1 win against Toronto,  “I came here to make the jump to Europe. I hope it happens and whatever God wants.” Gomez has been one of the best defensive midfielders in MLS since joining Messi’s team last summer. At just 21 years old, the Paraguayan has shown that he can be an effective destroyer and disrupt play. He’s also shown a knack for goal, with 9 goals in under 1,000...
