A young star Brighton can’t afford to sell this summer

Brighton have one of the best collections of wonderkids in all of world football. The Seagulls had six Golden Boy nominees last season. No other club had more than four players nominated. One of the jewels in Brighton’s stable is Facundo Buonanotte. The 19-year-old Rosario Central academy graduate is already a full Argentine international and has been a regular rotation player for Brighton in the Premier League. Despite this, the club are reportedly open to letting him go this summer.  According to 1908.nl, a top Dutch outlet, Feyenoord have made a bid to bring Buonanotte in on loan. Other outlets have reported that the Eredivisie club are pushing for there to be a reasonable buy-option in the loan deal.  What “reasonable” means is unclear. Whatever the price though, Brighton shou...

Brighton prepared a very competitive offer for their new top target…but it wasn’t enough

Brighton are pushing hard to sign a right back this summer. The club have been linked to a number of strong players at the position. Out of all their targets though, none are better than Fenerbahçe’s Ferdi Kadioglu.  The versatile defender was linked to Brighton earlier in the window, but most reports made it seem that Fenerbahçe had priced Kadioglu out of a move. Sevilla, Dortmund, and Brighton, all supposedly refused to meet the Yellow Canaries’ asking price.  Despite the past failed attempt, Brighton have gone in again for Kadioglu.  According to a report from Caught Offside, Brighton prepared a new €30m bid for Ferdi Kadioglu. This is short of Fenerbahçe’s reported €35m-€40m asking price, but the club hoped it would be enough to get the deal done, considering it’s believed tha...

Brighton need to sell Tariq Lamptey or Joel Veltman in order to sign top RB target

Brighton have made signing a right back one of their top priorities this transfer window. The Seagulls have been linked to a number of big names, including Benfica right back Alexander Bah.  Brighton view Alexander Bah as their top RB target A new report now says the club will not sign any of those targets if they cannot offload some one of their current right backs.  According to Caught Offside, Brighton have made Alexander Bah their top transfer target. However, the club will not make an offer unless they sell Joel Veltman and/or Tariq Lamptey. Both players do not have certain futures at the club. Their contracts both expire next June.  Brighton could make a huge profit off Veltman and Lamptey If the club can sell Veltman and Lamptey before the end of the window, they could make a...

Brighton preparing to receive another Napoli transfer bid for Billy Gilmour

Napoli have not given up their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour. Gli Azzurri bid £8m for the Scottish international last week. The Seagulls rejected the bid quickly and reportedly were not willing to sell Gilmour unless a much bigger offer came in for him.  Napoli need to sell before they buy Billy Gilmour According to top Italian transfer journalist Gianluca di Marzio, Napoli is ready to test Brighton’s resolve. Reportedly, Gilmour is one of Antonio Conte’s top transfer targets. The club are working hard to get the deal done before the start of the season.  Before Napoli can sign Gilmour, Gli Azzurri will need to get rid of some of their current players. Napoli are looking to sell Swedish international Jens Cajuste and academy graduate Gianluca Gaetano to raise funds so t...

Brighton add another talented RB to their transfer wishlist

Brighton have made waves this transfer window by signing some of the most exciting wonderkids on the market.  The Seagulls have swooped up Newcastle’s Yankuba Minteh, Feyenoord’s Mats Wieffer, Nordsjælland’s Ibrahim Osman, and Amario Cozier-Duberry from Arsenal.  As exciting as these signings have been, Brighton fans have been begging their club to sign some defenders, especially right backs. To their credit, the Seagulls have been listening.  Brighton have been linked to a number of strong right backs, including Turkey and Fenerbahçe star Ferdi Kadıoğlu and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters. A leading Portuguese newspaper has added another name to this list of Brighton right back targets.  According to O Jogo, the Seagulls are interested in signing Benfica right back Alexander ...

Antonio Conte is looking to sign one of Brighton’s best midfielders

After spending nearly €100m on players so far this  window, Brighton may be ready to let go of one of their best midfielders from last season.  Napoli are reportedly working on a deal for Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour. Italian reporter Matteo Moretto revealed that Antontio Conte specifically identified the Scotsman as one his top transfer targets for this window.  The Italian manager spoke with Gilmour this week about a possible move. The 23-year-old is open to joining Napoli and personal terms are not going to be an issue. Whether Serie A club can afford to pay Brighton’s asking price is another story though.  The Seagulls have already rejected a £8m bid from Napoli for Gilmour, but they could be willing to let him go for around £12m.  Brighton signed Gilmour for £7.5m fro...

Top young player admits he’s in talks with Brighton and wants a move

Brighton’s interest in Inter Miami midfielder Diego Gomez has officially gone from a tenuous transfer rumor to a full-on potential signing.  The 21-year-old midfielder revealed this week that he, his agent, and Miami are in discussions about a move to Brighton this summer.  “My agent is speaking to Inter Miami and Brighton & Hove Albion,” Gomez said to Spanish broadcaster Deporte Total USA after Inter Miami’s 3-1 win against Toronto,  “I came here to make the jump to Europe. I hope it happens and whatever God wants.” Gomez has been one of the best defensive midfielders in MLS since joining Messi’s team last summer. At just 21 years old, the Paraguayan has shown that he can be an effective destroyer and disrupt play. He’s also shown a knack for goal, with 9 goals in under 1,000...

Do Brighton want too many GKs, or is this hidden gem worth signing with Verbruggen injured?

Brighton have a reputation for plucking wonderkids seemingly out of nowhere. However, this latest transfer rumor seems odd even for the Seagulls.  According to multiple outlets in Colombia and Mexico, Brighton are still interested in signing Cruz Azul goalkeeper Kevin Mier. He could cost as little as €8m. Tottenham have also been linked to the 24-year-old Colombian. The Seagulls were linked to Mier back in January, but it was never clear whether that was just paper talk or a legit transfer rumor. I, and many Brighton fans, were inclined to think it wasn’t true due to the number of goalkeepers already under contract at the Amex. In January, Brighton were still rotating their starting goalkeepers with Jason Steele and Bart Verbruggen only playing two or three matches in a row before...

One transfer battle will test Brighton’s true desire to compete for European football

Even though the 2024 transfer window does not close for another month and a half, Brighton have already spent almost €100m on players this summer. Only Aston Villa have spent more than the Seagulls.  This is a sign of Brighton owner Tony Bloom’s ambitious plan to make Brighton regular contenders for European football. However, it has to be said that most of Brighton’s signings have been on young players with big upside and not proven players who will help them qualify for Europe this season.  If the Seagulls really want to establish themselves as Premier League powerhouses, they will have to spend on proven players. Roberto De Zerbi left the club because he thought they were unwilling to make these kinds of signings.  So far, De Zerbi has been right. The club have continued to sig...

Seeing the bright side of the Carlos Soler to Brighton transfer rumors

Brighton have made waves this transfer window by signing some of Europe’s best wonderkids. The Seagulls now look ready to buck their transfer strategy to sign a high-profile veteran player from Paris Saint-Germain.  According to Le Parisien, Brighton are interested in signing Spanish midfielder Carlos Soler from the French giants.  Soler, 27, has been a productive player for PSG, but he’s never been a great fit. The Parisians signed him from Valencia in 2022 for €18m. After just one season, PSG were willing to let him go and started shopping him around to other clubs.  Brighton were one of the clubs linked to Soler last summer. Those links ramped up in the January transfer window, but have since gone quiet. Until now, that is.  On paper, Soler seems like a strange fit for Brigh...
