Chelsea are focused on adding more goal-scorers who can help the team finish higher than sixth in the coming Premier League season, and there is optimism that with the right pieces and the right players taking steps forward, the Blues can make progress back to the Champions League.
Although Chelsea pushed hard for a big name in Crystal Palace star Michael Olise, it looks like the Frenchman is headed for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
The Blues are also interested in some more underrated talents, including those from the Bundesliga. They have already been linked to the league’s best left winger in Chris Fuhrich, who has a host of clubs interested in him.
Now, according to a report from Sky Sports Deutschland, Chelsea have joined the race for Hoffenheim center forward Maximilian Beier, who is also on the German national team as a backup alongside Fuhrich.
Both Fuhrich and Beier are two of the most underrated standouts on the German team, as they were both exceptional last season to little fanfare.
But teams are starting to become wise to them. Chelsea aren’t the only big Premier League club linked to Beier, as rivals Arsenal and Manchester United are also said to be interested.
Last season, the 21-year-old Beier was one of the most productive attacking players in the Bundesliga with 16 goals and a combined 2 dribbles completed and fouls drawn per game.
Beier and Andrej Kramaric formed a highly threatening attacking duo for Hoffenheim which stood out as one of the best in a Bundesliga loaded with talented attacking tandems.
Since Beier is 21 and coming off a great season, he could command close to 40 million euros on the transfer market, with Chelsea likely losing the “underrated gem” benefit to the fact that several Premier League powerhouses are in on him.
Beier could work in tandem with a new striker, but he probably doesn’t have the pedigree Chelsea are looking for when it comes to finding a new No. 9 to replace Nicolas Jackson, who would be a talented rotational backup in his own right after being a 50 million euro investment in summer 2023.
