Chelsea are on a bit of a slide after tough losses to Newcastle and PSG, showing that new manager Liam Rosenior is having an issue matching the tactical acumen of top managers and clubs.
Rosenior has frustrated Chelsea fans with basic decision making errors, such as benching one of his best players this season, goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, for one of his worst in Filip Jorgensen.
Consequences may be coming early for a manager hired just a couple of months ago. According to a report from Sky Sports Switzerland insider Sacha Tavolieri, several sources close to Chelsea are relaying serious concerns that Rosenior is not the right man to lead the team going forward.
There are even several high profile voices in the front office who are predicting that the former Strasbourg manager will not be the manager of the Blues by the time the 2026/27 season opens up.
It is a bold report just months into his reign at the first sign of trouble, but it is pretty much par for the course for a club that has been a revolving door of managers under Todd Boehly.
Chelsea fans will look back at the firing of Enzo Maresca and the internal promotion of Rosenior from Strasbourg with an element of “I told you so” to club ownership.
Rosenior is not yet seasoned for a top level job. He has not shown he is an upgrade over Maresca, whose only sin was daring to call out the board for the obvious error of not addressing the defense in back to back windows – an error that remains palpable to this day at Stamford Bridge.
