Choosing the best midfielders in La Liga Fantasy is a lot more difficult than just going with the best overall players, the stars on the best teams, or even who is actually playing the best because the scoring system favors midfielders who score goals, dribble incisively, and make decisive defensive actions as part of a successful team defense.
Negotiating all of these variables is often difficult. Here are the best La Liga midfielders to own in fantasy for the remainder of the 2025/26 season based on their ability to give you maximum points, regardless of their cost.
10. Luis Milla, Getafe
With seven assists this season, Luis Milla is one of the best table setters in La Liga, and he is also a quality defender in the middle of the park. But he isn’t going to get you many points anywhere else.
9. Edu Exposito, Espanyol
The battle between Luis Milla and Edu Exposito was a tight one, pitting two underrated La Liga veterans capable of creating chances and winning possession at a high level.
But ultimately, Exposito’s superior ball carrying and slightly better defensive capabilities earned the criminally underappreciated Espanyol man the nod, and he even snuck in over Frenkie de Jong, who is 100 times better in real life than in fantasy.
8. Fede Valverde, Real Madrid
Fede Valverde’s ranking in the top 10 at all is mostly banking on new Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa making good on his goal to play Madrid players in their more natural positions, phasing the Uruguayan out of the right back role he detests.
In all honesty, Valverde has been one of the most disappointing players in European football this season, but his quality as an all around midfielder is too good to bet against.
7. Aurelien Tchouameni, Real Madrid
Likewise, Aurelien Tchouameni is another Real Madrid star who should be performing at a higher level than he is, but with the amount of defensive interventions he is going to make as the screening No. 6 at a club like Madrid, he is still a worthwhile player in La Liga fantasy leagues.
6. Arda Guler, Real Madrid
Arda Guler would rank safely in the top three if this were a list of the midfielders in La Liga with the most quality, but because Guler is more average than great in defense and is more of a creator than a progressor, he can’t quite crack the top five.
A lot of Guler’s ranking also hinges on how Arbeloa utilizes him, and it is really hard to see great clarity for the Real Madrid midfield. Guler is an assist machine, but if he were more ruthless, he could truly be the biggest La Liga fantasy maven in midfield.
5. Pablo Fornals, Real Betis
The former West Ham veteran is now 29 years old and back in La Liga, and, quietly, he has been just as big of a star in the middle of the park for Los Verdiblancos as Antony has been.
Fornals has six goals and four assists, he’s been one of the best string pulling creators in La Liga this season, and with 2.2 combined tackles and interceptions per game, he is honestly a wildly underrated ball winner, too.
4. Fermin Lopez, Barcelona
The top five of La Liga fantasy midfielders is almost entirely dominated by Barcelona, to the point where what actually hurts the stars of the Blaugrana is precisely that there is so much quality and so many options for Hansi Flick to choose from that great players will get left out.
But when you know Fermin Lopez is going to be starting for Barcelona, he is a must add in fantasy. There is a reason why so many clubs around Europe were trying to sign away the fleet footed 22 year old with his nine goal contributions, 1.4 tackles per game, and 1.2 dribbles completed per match. He is a decisive, stat sheet filler.
3. Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid
Now, Jude Bellingham used to be a stat sheet filler, and while he is better than his three goals and four assists would otherwise indicate with quietly elite defensive work and ball winning on an otherwise lethargic Real Madird team, he is too hard to trust because of how volatile his role has been – and how underwhelming many of his Madrid teammates have been.
2. Dani Olmo, Barcelona
Dani Olmo has been on fire recently since returning to health, and all he needs is a half yard of space to score a wonder goal. With six goals and six assists, the Spanish international is showing off the jaw dropping technical quality that brought him back to Catalunya after a sensational Euro 2024 campaign.
Although Olmo can be hard to trust due to injuries, when he is healthy, he is one of the best La Liga fantasy options at any position, and he is even scoring points as a defender by working harder than he even did for RB Leipzig.
1. Pedri, Barcelona
Pedri is the best midfielder in La Liga, regardless of what Real Madrid stans want to tell you about Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler. They are awesome footballers, no doubt, but Pedri has them beat in terms of consistency, playmaking, technical quality, all around play, and he is much better defender than the Turkish international Guler.
