Juventus are circling back to a transfer target who could replace Federico Chiesa

Juventus finished third in Serie A last season, but they finally fired Max Allegri in response to yet another disappointing campaign.

It has been four years since the Bianconeri last won the Scudetto, which was back when Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo were forming an attacking trident with Gonzalo Higuain.

So much has changed since then, and while Juventus were optimistic they had a world-class nucleus of Serie A talent in Manuel Locatelli, Dusan Vlahovic, and Federico Chiesa to lead their next era, things have not gone to plan.

Juventus have overhauled their midfield this summer and are closing in on a third top-class signing in the middle of the park in Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners.

Now, the Bianconeri must focus on rebuilding an attack that has promise after Kenan Yildiz’s breakout but only one true top star from the 2023/24 season, striker Dusan Vlahovic.

According to a report from Nicolo Schira, Juventus have taken the step of asking Manchester United about star winger Jadon Sancho, who spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan at former club Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho stood out upon his return to the Bundesliga and helped Dortmund reach the Champions League Final after an unforgettable individual display against PSG.

Juventus would reportedly like to acquire Sancho on loan with an option to buy. Manchester United were previously asking for 47 million euros from Dortmund in order to make last season’s loan permanent.

Earlier this year, Juve were linked with a winter loan move for Sancho, but the England international ultimately decided to head to familiar territory in Dortmund.

Now, acquiring Sancho would be even more intriguing for Juve, because Chiesa’s future in Turin is very uncertain, even after a strong Euro 2024 campaign for an otherwise disappointing Italy.

Chiesa has been linked with moves to rival clubs, and Roma is particularly interested in acquiring the top Italian winger. New Roma manager Daniele De Rossi seems to be very high on the 26-year-old.

Meanwhile, new Juventus manager Thiago Motta apparently does not rate Chiesa highly, which is startling since his appointment was considered a lifeline after the acrimonious relationship between the star forward and Allegri.

So Juve’s renewed interest in Sancho becomes all the more intriguing in light of the rampant Chiesa transfer rumors, because the former Manchester City prospect could very well be the Italian international’s 2024 replacement.
