Juventus are making the transfer decision everyone was afraid of

Juventus might be the most heavily changed team by the time the 2024/25 Serie A season kicks off, and the Bianconeri have been in dire need of a shakeup since the end of the 2018/19 season.

The Bianconeri won the Serie A title in 2019/20 quite handily, but the warning signs were there before Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo carried a mediocre, Maurizio Sarri-led squad to the Scudetto.

Since then, Juventus have failed to win the title, and, last season, they were behind Inter Milan and AC Milan, with the Nerazzurri embarrassing Max Allegri’s men in the “title race”.

Juventus have a new manager in town, though, as they hired former Italian international and ace Bologna coach Thiago Motta, who will have a completely different vision of football in mind for the Old Lady.

That said, as many Juventini feared, that vision does not include Federico Chiesa, whose acrimonious relationship with the club under Max Allegri will not be saved by the young incoming manager.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have now made it “clear” that their plan is to sell Federico Chiesa this summer, as they will cash in on the Italian star before his contract runs out for free at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Per Romano, Thiago Motta does not see Chiesa as “key” to his project, which is an aspect that many Juventus fans likely have a hard time fathoming, given the star quality the former Fiorentina man has just recently shown with the Italian national team at Euro 2024.

Chiesa is wanted by Serie A rivals like AC Milan and Roma, so Juventus fans must also fear losing one of the country’s best attacking players to a direct rival and watching him shine – much like Paulo Dybala has done in Rome.

Juventus will have to look to replace Chiesa, too, and, based on the transfer tea leaves, perhaps that player could be Manchester United and Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.
