Juventus are ready to make an offer for a third top midfielder this summer

Juventus have been as busy as any club in Serie A in the summer transfer window, as they have hired a new manager in Thiago Motta and have already brought in two top midfielders in Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa and now Khephren Thuram from Nice.

The Bianconeri had highlighted midfield help as their biggest need during the winter transfer window but failed to sign anyone who could upgrade the side immediately.

Juventus have changed all that by landing two starting-caliber players this summer, as Thuram and Luiz were among the best midfielders in their respective leagues.

They aren’t done there, though, as Fabrizio Romano reports that Juventus are getting ready to submit their formal transfer bid to fellow Serie A contenders Atalanta for star center midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.

The Dutchman has been one of the best players in Serie A since joining in the 2022/23 season from the Eredivisie, helping Atalanta win the Europa League over the previously undefeated Bayer Leverkusen in the 2023/24 campaign.

Koopmeiners has been on Juve’s radar as their absolute top midfield transfer target for 2024 since the winter, so it is only a matter of time before the Bianconeri submit an official transfer offer to La Dea.

Juventus and Koopmeiners had already agreed on personal terms, so if Juventus can submit a reasonable transfer offer to Atalanta, then their second top-class Serie A signing of the summer will be complete.

The first, of course, was Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, who, alongside Inter Milan veteran Yann Sommer, was one of Serie A’s best in the 2023/24 season.

All that is left for Juventus is to sign their top defensive target of choice, Bologna standout Riccardo Calafiori, though Arsenal’s recent interest will make it much more difficult for Thiago Motta to reunite with his star pupil.
