Manchester United are dealing with an injury crisis at center back, but they are anxiously awaiting the return of star man Lisandro Martinez any day now. He has been out for about a month with a calf injury.
According to a report from the Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler, Martinez is expected to be back in the lineup for the Red Devils next week in the Premier League when Man United take on Bournemouth in a tricky Friday night fixture.
Having Martinez back will be huge for a defensive unit that has been improved under Michael Carrick but still has its cracks, particularly with Matthijs de Ligt out for potentially the rest of the season and young Leny Yoro struggling for form.
Martinez has that something special with his bulldog playing style that still makes him arguably Man United’s most important defender. It is wonderful news for them to get the key defender back for the game against the Cherries and, hopefully, going forward, though injuries have long been an issue for the ex Ajax man.
