Manchester United are in the market for multiple center midfield transfer targets this summer window. Although Felix Nmecha isn’t one of their top targets, he was on their radar as a possible signing.
However, as Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sports Germany’s Patrick Berger reported, with Borussia Dortmund later confirming on social media, Nmecah has officially signed a long term contract with BVB.
Dortmund had been hoping to sign Nmecha amidst a breakout season in which he has finally become one of the top midfielders in Germany, providing a key solution to a Dortmund midfield that still has question marks besides himself and fellow young star Jobe Bellingham.
Manchester City were rumored to be keen on bringing Nmecha back, as, like Jadon Sancho, he was a youth prospect for them before spreading his wings in the Bundesliga, eventually shining for Dortmund.
However, per Fab, it turns out Man City were not actually in on Nmecha and preferred other options. With Nmecha off the table, the focus for Manchester United will remain on players like Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Elliot Anderson, and Adam Wharton in midfield.
